This restaurant is exquisite! Service Is very warm and friendly..If Its too warm for people to sit outside under their wooden canopy..then go somewhere else..youre In the beach..for Gods sake people? To say the least..foods on point everytime..and ambiance thanks to The Golden Strand resort..noone notices that all the amenities all around them including Tikki Bar belongs to the resort? Funny

Stopped by in February on our way to South Beach...the waiters could not have been nicer! The food was fantastic and the dessert was out of this world. Yummmm :p definitely highly recommend!

The service is horrible. We were 1 of 3 tables occupied and now we know why. The server asked if we would like grated Parmesan cheese and then when we said yes he rolled his eyes. And the bathroom is the same one that the beach goers use. So the Floor was soaked (hopefully with water) and both stalls were disgusting. Would not recommend to anyone.

Wonderful service, delicious authentic Italian, great drinks, what's not to love? I have been dining here for years and never have a less than excellent experience. The recipes used are legit, passed down generations from home in Italy, really can't beat that. Ultimately, their best dish (in my opinion) has to be the Zuppa di Pesce, it's made with super fresh fish, muscles, clams, etc. baked to perfection covered in a light, buttery, freshly made bread blanket, really unlike anything I have ever experienced. I can't speak for Italy, but as far as Miami is concerned, definitely the best fish soup!

Azzurro is amazing! the food, the attention, the ambient... It's just perfect for any occasion. If you want a dinner for two is very romantic, or maybe for the whole family it has everything you want to make you feel good. A piece of Italy in Sunny Isles.

Great Italian food. The restaurant is hidden within the resort. Seating is outside and was enjoyable for us. I had cod, which was hard and a bit undercooked. The appetizers were wonderful and so were the side dishes. Desert was delicious. Service was friendly but was a bit slow, and the place was not busy. Service charge is automatically included. If the service was better then it would be 4 (or realistically, a 4 1/2) star rating.

Had a work holiday party in the outdoor area. Prefix menu with family style appetizers. Lovely outdoor area. Very attentive servers. Food was delicious. Calamari. Bruschetta. Gnocchi. Tilapia. Chicken. Not a single complaint from anyone in the group.

My go to place for Italian food! All of their food is authentic and made from scratch. Beautiful location, great dining.. All you need is the right company. A bit pricey, but the quality of the food is outstanding. Will definitely be coming here more often.

Easter Sunday I'm a guest in a party of 12 and off we go to a little restaurant in the Golden Strand time share resort in Sunny Isles. Note this property was recently purchased by Aqualina so I'm not sure how long this will be here before it is imploded like the rest of the throwback properties along this High end condo capital of the world. Both small indoor area as well as ample under cover outdoor seating is available along with a small Tikki bar closer to the water. No view of the beach per say unless you get up and walk but still a nice evening with breezes lead this to be a perfect setting. Seated at 12 top and first thing our waiters offer are cocktails. Red & white wine is pre-ordered by our host this evening so a few cocktails are ordered. 10 minutes later the bartender does not know how to make a variety of what appear to be simple drinks "Appletini" etc.. Hmm.. Strike 1. We let it slide order something else drink some wine and listen to our waiter in his best American / Spanish accent they speak almost NO ENGLISH give us the specials. No offer of regular water just assumption that Pellegrino and bottled flat "Panna" water will be wanted. Note they kept pouring immediately as a bottle ended next bottle opened. No waiting for request for more. Easy way to pad the bill with high priced bottled water. Diverse northern Italian menu with lots of different options but certainly not your typical Italian entrees here. Some specials seemed interesting as he asked us if we would like salads before meal. A few order salads and low and behold here comes an array of appetizers which our host ordered for the table. No mention of the abundance of platters being ordered so we immediately through the flag up to cancel the salads. Entirely too much high pressure to pad the bill between the water and the push for Salad here that is strike 2. Nice Foccaica bread with olive oil for dipping is presented. Appetizers were Fried Calamari with Marinara sauce with fried Zucchini. This was fresh and quite good. Platters of Mozzarella and Capresse salads along with platters of Italian meats, cheeses were also ordered. Tomatoes were simply OK and mozzarella was not homemade by any stretch. Meats were also nothing special. Passable but certainly not anything to write home about. Entrees: I'll simply list them and their ranking Osso Bucco with homemade risotto was excellent $42.00 but ala carte and the dish itself for the price points was very small Filet Mignon over Finger ling potatoes also $42.00 was also top shelf meat with a nice presentation but again certainly no bargain at these price points and did not compare to a top shelf steak house at these numbers. Rack of lamb was good and tasty if not a bit overdone. Can only assume as a special of the day for Easter many of these were pre made? Lobster Ravioli were a bit on the fish side I'd pass on this one in the future. Multiple surf and turf specials ordered which were 1 GIANT SHRIMP butter flied and grilled with choice of the filet mignon or rack of lamb. Close to $60.00 for this dish. I'd have to say highway robbery here. Shrimp was OK but certainly not an $18.00 add on to the existing plate. Mushroom ravioli special was out of this world with a light cream sauce. Chilean Sea bass were top shelf pieces of fresh fish lightly seasoned and absolutely on the money. In short I simply can't balance the price points for the amount of food or its overall value. Was it good tasty, fresh for the most part yes very much so. Was it completely overpriced without question? The padding of the bill with the never ending bottled water or push for Salads was uncalled for. Waiters need to be more English oriented as we have yet to succumb to being a non English society here in Sunny Isles. All and all 3 Stars seem to be about right. Don't think they will be here much longer with the impeding construction of this resort, but I doubt I'll be returning here before their demise.

Little gem at the golden strand resort. Awesome food and service! We had the mushroom ravioli special, homemade gnocchi, Nigerian shrimp special, and homemade pappardelle all were delicious. Also tiramisu and chocolate soufflé were to die for. Definitely a place we will be back to visit!

I have been working in the restaurant business for 30 plus years working in restaurant operations and presently as a food manufacturer. My fiancé and I decided to try Azzurro since it was next to our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the outside Tiki hut atmosphere. Unfortunately it took almost an hour to get our entrees. We were the only people seated at the time of the order. Food was average wait staff good. Wine selection below par. Don't waste your time having dinner there are too many other good places to eat in the area. Possible good hangout to have a drink and listen to the Karaoke DJ.

The service was literally the best I have ever received at a restaurant. Our table was wobbly and the server noticed and fixed it before we even had a chance to say anything. We had a bottle of water on our table and they would come full it for us all the time, we never had to lift a finger. The food was delicious, the pasta sauce amazing. I love that it was garnished with rosemary. The location is perfect. It's outside under a little canopy, though I believe they have a few inside tables too. It's behind the hotel, right on the beach. Great to go to on a breezy night and take a stroll after. It's a very romantic place.

It would be helpful if you would Update your menus online and in the community. We were expecting certain menu items that were no longer available, and we left because two members of our party could not find comparable items.

What an unexpected wonderful meal. The place is not easy to find, but worth it. I will place a caveat here: The entrance to the restaurant is through a two star hotel lobby. Or you can just walk around the North side of the building, but either way...getting there makes you a little suspicious. Don't let it put you off. Because of the entrance, I didn't have much hope this place would be good, but boy was I wrong. Service was very nice and prompt. They gave us lots of space to jabber on, and then when we motioned for service they came running. Everything we ordered was delicious. The salads were super fresh and well dressed, not too much, not too little...perfect. The soup special (apparently a grandmother's recipe to use up pizza dough) was sooooo delish. Papparedelle pasta was excellent, as was the risotto. The only dish that wasn't great was the sea bass special. It was dry and on a bed of gummy mashed potatoes. That is my only complaint. The setting is great and the prices are reasonable, especially to be sitting out in the fresh air right off the beach. I will definitely be back. As I said, I was pleasantly surprised.

Nice ambience! Good food. We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night and I really liked the place since the noise level was low for a weekend night and our 7 month old was comfortable too! Try their baked seafood dish with a thinly rolled dough as a cover. It was unique and good!

Outstanding, Superb, Delicious, oh my could go on forever. A friend told us about this hidden treasure. I could not believe it had not been reviewed. Located in Sunny Isles in a condo development. You see the sign, turn to get into the parking lot and there is a gate with security. You say you are going to the restaurant and they let you right in. FREE parking, and plentiful. You drive around the corner and it sits back in the courtyard behind the pool overlooking the ocean. They have a huge covered tiki hut for outdoor seating while also having a very nice inside dining area. We chose to sit outside and take in the beautiful views. As you sit here, you feel like you are in a resort. They have a round bar behind the pool area surrounded with glass windows. What a great place to live, work on your tan and cocktails and some great food if you get hungry. Yes, they open at 11:00 AM. Nice! Paulo, the owner came over to greet us and start us with some still or sparkling water. This is a family run business. Born and raised in Italy Paulo runs the restaurant with his sister. As I was looking over the wine menu, he returned to tell us about the evening specials. I was looking for a particular type of wine not on the menu so he rushed off and said "let me see what we might have". He came back with two choices with the bottles in his hand. Perfecto, yes we will try the 2006 Vino Noble Montepulciano. Right by his side was a young lady filling our water, and bringing us Foccacia bread with oil and vinegar. Excellent bread and good fresh oil. We started with a ceasar salad and an order of Calamari. The salad was awesome. Fresh crisp lettuce, great homemade dressing and very good croutons. If it had anchovies in it (which I forgot to ask for) this would have been one of the best ceasar salads I have ever ate. Next, the calamari brought tears to my hubby's eyes. His family owned Italian restaurants his whole life where his mother and father did all the cooking. This calamari was identical to his mother's. Not breaded like 99% of places. They make it with a touch of milk and flour only. He was in heaven eating this, brought back his mother's memories. It came with marinara on the side which was excellent, yay not sweet just perfect tasting marinara. Also in with the calamari were some grilled zucchini, that was terrific. Entree: Hubby ordered one of the specials for the evening which was Lasagna, made with veal and meat. He knew if it was not on the menu it was made fresh and not sitting around for five days. I can not even describe how good this dish was. Good size portion, Parmesan cheese drizzled on top, excellent flavor, this was perfection. My dish consisted of Chicken with ham and mozzarella cheese on top with potatoes. So, I am already almost full but when this dish came out with the way it looked I dug right in. I did not even need to use a knife as the chicken was so moist and tender it just cut right apart with my fork. Yes, it had great flavor, good quality mozzarella and ham, very moist and flavorful, potatoes were excellent as well. After a few bites I had to stop eating and take the rest home. Oh believe me I could have ate the entire dish because it was that good, but between two bottles of wine, water, bread, salad, oh my I was stuffed. The menu has great selections from appetizers, salads, pasta, chicken, veal, osso bucco, sure to please any taste. Between the service, the quality of the food, the attention you are given in this beautiful serene place it was an enjoyable night. As nightfall approached we sat at the bar to finish our wine. What a romantic place! So beautiful looking out and hearing the waves. You can not get this experience anywhere else. The prices were very reasonable most entree's were $15- $28. Huge amounts of excellent food. I will be dreaming of this place and looking so forward to going back. All I could think about was what a perfect place for an event. Hint, hint...LOL I will tell everyone about this restaurant as it was that good. You made me a HUGE fan, and you will see us again, very soon. One of the BEST Italian restaurants in South Florida, no doubt. Thank goodness we do not live that close, we would be there daily. Desserts looked amazing, next time. Plus there were quite a few dishes I must try, eggplant, and a seafood dish that looked scrumptious at the table next to us. What an amazing treat to have found this place. Go, go now, you will love it.

First, we had really great, attentive service. I While I just had a salad (bland), my friends enjoyed their meal, though they prefer to spend $10 more per entree and eat next door at Il Mulino. In my opinion, the main drawback here is the setting : indoor seating is limited and not very nice, outdoor seating was nice but too hot/uncomfortable (85F in Sep) at dinner time to enjoy the Italian food. Unless the weather is cooler, I'd go elsewhere.

Food was so-so. Veal had tinny flavor and Lobster ravioli was fishy, perhaps it was a bad batch? However the wait staff was extremely friendly and the restaurant did have great ambiance. I would recommend to have a drink or two but may skip the food next time.

extremely hard to find as it is inside the motel. I stayed at the Trump next door and thought I could access it via the beach but realized I couldn't. took us a good 20 min to find it located behind the motel. once we walked to the end however, the ambiance of the restaurant was lovely - we sat outside in the little tent they set up and our waiter was very friendly and efficient. we got the calamari, which I thought was okay but I did like how they fried the zucchini along with the calamari. pasta was good, but not amazing. good place to come if you're in search of some decent food and fair prices as food at the Trump could be a little bit overpriced.

We wandered over from Trump International in search of a cheaper lunch. The prices are okay-- cheaper than hotel.. and they have a 7 days a week lunch special (food $6, drinks $5). The service was excellent, and I enjoyed sitting outside. Lunch starts at 12pm. Food was mediocre, but you are getting a deal- thus no complaints.

Great food, excellent service, and very nice atmosphere. We were visiting Sunny Isles and were staying right down the road- a friend had told us about the spot so we decided to check it out. We were very pleasantly surprised- it is family owned (Sicilian) and authentic. The outdoor seating, under a bamboo hut and right by the pool, made for good ambiance. They also had someone on piano who played and sang a great set, mixed with everything from Italian songs to Oasis and Coldplay. The appetizers were all good- Caprese and Carpaccio were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The bruschetta was also pretty good as well. I went with the Zuppa di Pesce upon the waitress's suggestion- I highly recommend trying this if you go! It is served in a large dish with a pizza dough covering and filled with seafood. It was more than enough food- I was coming close to finishing it, but when I folded back the rest of the pizza dough and saw another whole piece of Salmon I knew I'd be taking home leftovers. Overall, the dish was spectacular. I spoke to the manager who told me his sister was the chef, and that they still used their grandmother's recipe. Can't say enough great things about this place. We went to different restaurants for our entire week-long vacation, and our experience at Azzurro stood out amongst the others (including the other Italian option across the street!) by far. We will be sure to return next time we are in the area.

I ate here tonight. They just added some new items to the menu today. I had new calamari in a spicy tomato sauce and it was really good. The calamari was large and very tender. I also had the spinach and cheese cannelloni which is new also. That was so good too. The service was outstanding and the owner was also attentive. I plan on coming back this week for more wine and dessert while I am staying in Sunny Isles. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The service here was tremendous. The atmosphere was nice. The appetizers were delicious. The steak was one of the better ones I've had while traveling and needing to find someplace new. All-in-all, this was a great, well-rounded dining experience.

I went to Azzurro's with a large party, 16 people, so my experience may not be typical. Our party was attending a nearby trade show. Two other groups from the same show were there as well, one group of twelve and another of six. We all arrived at roughly the same time, which may have added to the service problem. The service was very poor. I expect service problems with large groups, but our waiter was a catastrophe. Drink orders were forgotten, the first meal came to the table twenty minutes before the last one arrived, and special requests (no mushrooms, etc.) were partially ignored. I expected some lax service when I saw that gratuity was included regardless of party size, but we wouldn't see the waiter for twenty minutes at a time. In a group as large as ours, something will always need addressing by the wait staff. The food was disappointing. We ordered most of the menu. The dishes' presentation was pedestrian. The pasta dishes appeared to be identical with the exception of the accompanying meat. The flavor of my pasta was decent, but unimaginative. My wife's salmon was completely unseasoned. All of our parties were referred by the Westin's concierge. Apparently nobody was asking for good Italian, but rather just for a good restaurant. I suspect that there is a kickback arrangement as the concierge uniformly recommended Azzurro's. That's a problem with the Westin. However, if Azzurro's couldn't provide adequate service, they should have told the parties when we all made reservations.

Unfortunately my family's lunch was a disaster at this place! First they offer me a all you can eat which look like it was served two days before! I order the parma prosciutto which they did not have. The steak was a frozen not good at all. My wife's pasta was also bad. The kids meal was ok, definitely better than my steak. Wait time for our food was over an hour, we even lost our appetite. Seems that all employees wanted to party with the bar customers. Music started to go loud in order for the bar customers start dancing the restaurant area, we could not even talk and my kids were amazed how they were dancing.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
